My VisualCV

I’ve joined  VisualCV about a week ago, and just totally forgot about creating my CV, and just today went through my mail and found my welcome email.

VisualCV is a FREE service (Why do I keep on uppercasing FREE?) whereby you can build yourself different CV’s/Resume’s which can include video, picutres and a portfolio of you best work samples.

These CVs can be securelyshared to different users, employers, colleagues and friends, or even made public and you can then control who sees what on these publications.

Google Reader

I’m using Google Reader as I have basically 3 computers on which I work, 1 work laptop, another personal laptop and another random pc at home, so I like the idea of using one interface website that remembers what I’ve read and what I found interesting(by Star-ring them).

So far Google Reader has been a valuable part in my online life keeping track of certain blogs and gives a nice and clean experience.

Search Google for DVT Radical .

“Radical” Local IP

The company I’m currently working for, DVT, has a product called Radical, with which I’ve been playing around with quite intensely lately.

I’m currently busy with a very large Aviation project, where we are using Radical to co-ordinate and store vital information for the Aircraft, parts and much more.(don’t want to abbreviate on this yet).

This product was developed locally and thus this is localy Intellectual Property of DVT, which was bought from(or acquisition done) Solutional a few years ago.

The main idea behind Radical was to be a CRM solutional, but it has grown to such a powerful product, that today, you can vitually build anything on it - an in very quick timeframes.  I usually just summarize it as “Access on Steroids”  where you now have a powerful Intelligent GUI interface which lays on top of the database, with form logic and BRP(Busines Rule Processor) running on top of that to ensure you can monitor and manage any process effectively.

They do have a free download available(1 user lisence) for guys that want to have a peek.

Unfortunately this product only runs with MS SQL Server underneath, but soon(if I can get them converted :-/ ) we could maybe see engines like MySQL under the bonet.

Scalability by YouTube video

This is one of the first online videos that I really-really found informative and found real interesting.

This is a video about one of the YouTube developers and he is sharing some of the problems they experienced in their growth, and shares some of the REALLY NICE tricks and hacks they did to get all the juice out of their servers.

They had just a handful of staff members involved with the creation and main development, just think about that profit sharing …lol

and WOW!!! they push out 10GB per second from their site!!!

Microsoft Groove Bandwidth Woes

We’ve succesfully rolled out MS Groove within a few business units at the moment, and even our Directors are using it now.

Last week I found that adding a 100MB file in a workspace that has about 10-15 people in.

It knocked down our internet access totally as the relay server were pointing to MS’ relay servers and the file was uploaded and downloaded from the MS servers and NOT peer-to-peer transfers.

We are now looking at way to all workspace members always use the fastest connection available and not draw from the internet …
