In all fairness, why can people drive around with Television screen(small LCD’s) mounted on their dashboards and on top of that they watch TV on their way to work. This morning I saw a car with a television, 1 occupant in the card, LCD mounted on the dashboard, and the guy watching TV on his way to work. I think it is still fine if it is mounted on the back of the front seats for children etc. but like this, no way. I peeked in and it looked like the guy was watching an episode of heroes, prob a DVD ripped ??
ESKOM … they want to increase the rates for us the consumers because they say they are going to have alot of capital expenditure in the next few years, shouldn’t they have to save up the money or think about it in the past few years. It is their responsibility to make sure they have enough money etc. for the demand. Well, guess - we - the consumers in South Africa don’t have a choice. Just fork out tha money. My 2 cents on that. Maybe should start looking into alternative energy solutions…. ? sun panels, sun charged garden lights etc.
For the last couple of years I’ve been using Subversion for manage my application codes, and never in my life have I used CVS or SourceSafe.
Actually came upon this youtube video where Linus Torvalds speaks about GIT, the distributed versioning system used for the Linux kernel and some nice features around this.
I’ve been using open source and free software for quite some time now, used almost only OpenOffice, ran Thunderbird etc.
At my new job, I’m getting my hands on almost all of Microsofts’ offerings, and I must admit I’m starting to enjoy the experience. Everything is so easy to use and integrate with each other on Windows.
I tried on Microsoft OneNote this week just for keeping track of some projects and what I need to do, and I must say it is very effective.
Again, I feel Linux is the best server platform, I’m running my own web servers on Debian, and also have a file server running at home.
Desktop Linux I must say will probably have to grow abit more, although I am positive that this will also bring some nice innovations to the playing ground.
One of my co-workers told me they used to be members of a certain “Wine-a-month” club that they send you a case of fine wines from the cape every month.
I browsed around a bit on the internet and found that it seems this club has been discontinued, although I found another side, where you can order cases of wine, either mixed, white, red etc. and also according to price, you can decide on categories - “Budget”, “Everyday” and “Luxury” wines.
The website is called GETWINE.co.za which is quite an appropriate name for such a site.
I’m ordering myself a case of mixed wines in the budget category just to see what their quality is like…. R360 bucks is not too bad for 12 bottles.
When I was at varsity which was like ages ago(think around years now) we used to have numerous LANs where we played Starcraft + Broodwars expansion pack for hours(or rather days) on end.
Since then I’ve started to get busy with work, and some other work, and some other work, and actually got out of the whole habit of playing games.
Last year I played abit of Track Mania Nations which was not too bad, but also could just keep playing for two weeks once or twice in the evenings.
Now that I’ve seen that Starcraft 2 is coming out I’m now trying to get my hands on Starcraft again, saw it’s quite cheap in the shops, under R100 bucks…
