I’ve worked on a few Open Source CMS system in the past two years, mainly in the direction of Joomla!, Drupal and Mambo.

Today I stumbled upon e107.org .
Looks pretty decent, but needs some investigation some time soon, I see there is some phpBB support, bug tracking support etc. and obviously modular and agile.

Anybody reading this have any experience in any of these ?

For the guys that are reading my blog for the first time, Welcome !!

If you do not know, I am a BETA tester for the new exciting Blog Traffic Exchange/Generator called BlogMad !!!
Although I’m not so active on the team lately due to work restraints, I’m proud to be part of the team.

What is BlogMad, in essence almost the same as BlogExplosion

“NO!!!, definitely not!” Paul would say, the Marketing guru from BlogMad.

BlogMad is …………

I’m not going to tell you what it is, you must go find out for yourself here.

BlogMad! I’ve talked alot or actually Paul talked alot to over Instant Messanger telling me more about their plans with BlogMad, and I must say, the BlogMad team really thought this one through. With a 1-to-1 ratio and not 1-to-2 like some other traffic exchange sites this already is a bonus.

Anyways, while talking to Paul one cannot help to wonder where their team gets all the ideas from. The excitement and energy can actually be felt over IM how enthusiastic the whole team is over this product. Not as money hungry as other projects in similar projects, that admirable(spelling? ;-) ) .

Anyways, head over there, and check it out. They also have a very active forum at forums.blogmad.net .

Blog SPAM

Uncategorized No Comments »

For the last two weeks I’ve been getting alot of SPAM in the comments of the blog, stuff like :

Nice job. I’m planning to come back here in the future. when Circle is Cosmos it will Rape Cards: http://www.dallasnews.com/ , Collective Mistery becomes Astonishing Opponents in final Coolblooded Table is always Greedy Grass , Good Boy Anticipate or not Good Cosmos is always Astonishing Game

Having comment authorization is not enough, cause each day I now must authorize almost 20-30 comments that are plainly SPAM !!!

I went to search for some SPAM fighting tools and came across the WordPress Plugins Database.

Here I found quite a few very nice SPAM Fighting tools such as:

    Spammer Tarpit
This plugin will match a visitor’s IP number against any listed in your moderation_keys setting. If a match is found, the visitor’s connection will be delayed before returning an “access denied” message.
    WPBlacklist
A plugin to emulate the MTBlacklist functionality which allows you to mark comments as spam based on blacklist entries which include regular expressions, URLs and IP addresses. The plugin allows you to work with your existing comments and those in the moderation queue as well as fresh comments posted to your blog. It also allows you to specify which comments which match the blacklist should be automatically deleted.
    Bot Check
This plugin generates an image with a random code that must be entered for the comment to be accepted. Requires modification of wp-comments.php. Uses encryption to pass code to image generator and processing script.
    WordPress SpamAssassin Plugin
Filters WordPress comments through SpamAssassin. It speaks the SpamAssassin protocol natively so you don’t need the spamc client installed and you don’t have to mess with any Perl modules. “Simple, yet devastatingly effective.”

And these are just a few, now it’s all up to deciding which of these to use …

phpList

Uncategorized No Comments »
Powered by PHPList

Have you ever received a newsletter, subscription email from a company, and at the bottom of the page there is a link to phpList…?

Then it’s most probably a sign that you’ve been mailed by phpList, the most awesome free mass mailing tool on the internet today.

What is phpList.

phpList is a web-based email list manager and mass-mail sender .(my definition) .

PHPlist is a double opt-in newsletter manager. It is written in PHP and uses an SQL database for storing the information. PHPlist is software that runs on a server.

PHPlist is designed to assist you to stay in touch with your audience, without flooding them with information they don’t want. PHPlist is an essential tool for anyone who is serious about creating, capturing and maintaining an offline audience, and will help you increase traffic to your website.

And the most amazing thing of all: IT’S FREE.

Recently, with my activities at IntoShape, we were looking for a tool to help us manage our mailing list in one central place and where we can send smart HTML mails or just plain text.

We then found phpList, which met our requirements, and best of all, centralized on our web server, no need to dump the database and load it into a third party app here at the office.

Cool feature
One of the coolest feature of this tool is, the “send a webpage” feature, whereby you just say to phpList, go fetch this webpage(let’s say blog.justpulse.com) and it goes fetches, creates the links to URLs and images and sends the whole webpage to the recipients.

I can recommend anyone running a website or mailing list to check out this FREE project.
